‘How to run the ‘DISCOVERING CHRIST’ course — training for leaders

This training session takes place at ‘DAY FOR LEADERS’

Oct 19, St Paul’s Secondary School, Greenhills, Dub 12.

DISCOVERING CHRIST is the first of three courses in the ChristLife Process of Catholic Evangelisation. It is a 7-week video based course that is essentially Kerygmatic.

Four of the 9 sessions are specifically focussed on Jesus: who is He, what He has come to reveal to us, what is so unique about Him and the importance of a free response to his invitation.

The course is intended to bring people into a personal relationship with Christ or deepen that relationship and build a community spirit through meeting for a meal and sharing in small groups. It also empowers participants through baptism in the Holy Spirit during a one-day retreat. Besides quotes from the Scriptures, Church teachings from various Ecclesial and Papal documents are quoted

throughout the talks so that baptised Catholics can relate easily to the session contents. Training is given in advance to those who wish to organise and run the course in Parishes and/or Prayer Groups or Ministries, as the ChristLife Team desires that the local lay people own the course while the support of the ChristLife Team will always be there to assist.

Discovering Christ course is not a stand alone course: it is completed by 2 further courses – FOLLOWING CHRIST and SHARING CHRIST – so that the initial Primary Proclamation of the Discovering Christ course leads to ongoing formation through discipleship, initial catechesis and missioning.
